The Operation
A breeding herd built on the floor of an ancient volcano.
Caldera Pastoral is the beef cattle enterprise of Caldera Estate — 280 acres of sub-tropical hill country in the Limpinwood Valley, on the western rim of the Tweed. The valley sits inside the erosion caldera of an ancient shield volcano, in the shadow of Wollumbin. Its basalt soils, creek flats and reliable sub-tropical rainfall grow the kind of grass that finishes cattle properly.
We run a self-replacing registered Angus breeding herd as the core of the operation, with grass backgrounding layered across the seasons. The whole enterprise is owner-operated and managed to one standard: the land comes first, and the cattle prove it.
